BattleStar Galactica uniforms?

We see a few different digital pattern uniforms pop up throughout the series, including a black and gray pattern (urban combat) as well as a woodland variant. Where did these uniform designs come from? Are the uniforms made by the costume designers, or are those woodland and urban patters actually utilized by an existing military. I'm curious as to whether these patterns actually exist and who uses them, or if they were created strictly for the show.
