Problem with knitting!! Help?

As you carry the color you are NOT currently knitting across the back of the piece, you need to twist the active color around that color every other stitch so it stays tight and close to the tips of the needles until you are ready to pick it up again. It takes some practice to perfect the tension doing this so you might want to practice with a small section of pattern using extra yarn first.
